The Board of Intermediate and secondary education follows a strict rule of transparent and impartial examination and results process. It an autonomous board which has legislative authority to certify and cancel certification of educational institutes teaching intermediate and secondary classes. An independent board for AJK secondary and intermediate education was established in year 1973. Its rules and regulations are set in accordance to BISE Board Lahore to which it was formerly legislatively included. Execution of all results of supplementary and annual examinations of 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th, classes are responsibility of BISE Board AJK.
Having conducted its first ever examinations in 1974, BISE Board AJK has performed 44 years of services. Almost 800 schools and colleges of AJK are affiliated with the board. BISE Board AJK is similar to other secondary and intermediate boards of Pakistan; it functions to ensure educational quality of its jurisdiction areas has been met. The syllabus of 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th classes must be taught in the prescribed manner, execution of educational policies must be done as per guidelines, organizing inspection of affiliated institutes, providing required facilities and equipments to educational institutes, certification, cancellation of certificates and withdrawal of certificates of affiliated institutes if they don’t meet the criterion of BISE AJK Board certification and awarding deserving candidates with scholarships and certificates of performance as per prescription of Ministry of Education, these are responsibilities of BISE Board AJK.
The BISE AJK Board is adopting modern techniques of executing its responsibilities to keep pace with advancing times. Online registration, online results and online date sheets of all supplementary and annual examinations of 11th class are being posted as per the schedule on the official website of BISE AJK Board. The facility of online system has become a source of easy approach for students and parents.
The Board of secondary and intermediate education of AJK is trying to remove the gap between public and private schools. Every child has the right to have an equal quality of education and opportunities regardless of their financial background. As per the surveys, the students of the private sector have been provided with better educational facilities. These state-level secondary and intermediate boards were established specifically to target ensuring uniform education in the areas that are under their jurisdiction. The affiliated institutes must have the same standards of education, examinations and results policies. The teaching criteria and curriculum have to be similar in all institutions.
In intermediate classes such as 11th and 12th, the curriculum being taught is uniform in every institute. Because of the untiring efforts of the BISE AJK Board, the public institutions have been able to provide equally standardized education to students as available to private institutions. Every year, there is an increase in admissions of students for secondary and intermediate classes. The board has huge challenge to facilitate the increasing rate of students. The present government has allocated the board with an increased budget of education and now it is up to the BISE Board AJK as to how well it utilizes resources.
