The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mardan, Khyber Pakhtukhwa established under ordinance ACT 1990, is an autonomous body of the Ministry of Education. It is empowered with administrative and financial authority to organize, regulate, develop and control Intermediate and Secondary Education, and conduct examinations in the institutions affiliated with it.

Role and responsibilities of the board includes: affiliation of institutions imparting SSC and HSSC education within Pakistan and abroad and to prescribe courses of instructions for SSC and HSSC.it also ensure provision of requisite facilities in the affiliated institutions.
It is empowered with administrative and financial authority to organize, regulate, develop and control Intermediate and Secondary Education in general and conduct examinations in the public and private institutions affiliated with it.
The prime objective of Mardan Board is to provide and ensure quality service at secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent level of education in terms of conducting examination and to maintain the required standard and benchmark so as to achieve national goals; therefore, computerization system has been introduced in Swat Board for the betterment of the students of far flung areas especially in processing result, registration, result publication through website and so on.
