Malakand division is located on the eastern side of Swat District. It was established as a Provincially Administered Tribal Area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1970. The approximate population of Malakand division was 567,000 in 2004-2005. BISE Malakand was established to oversee and implement the policies related to intermediate and secondary education in the Malakand division. These boards were established with the aim to ensure growth and betterment of intermediate and secondary education in the areas prescribed to them. Academic duties of BISE Malakand division are: To specify the terms and conditions for admission to its examinations and to set the boundaries for the criteria of qualification of candidates and to receive admission of students in such examinations in accordance with CBC minutes/ instructions which are being provided to the Board time by time, execution of National Curriculum and specified courses of study provided by Ministry of Education Islamabad or TBB (Text Book Board) Hayatabad Peshawar, among Educational institutions under the jurisdiction of BISE Malakand with dedication and responsibility.
