However, considering the growing population of the district, these schools may not be sufficient to meet the educational needs of the region. According to the survey conducted by the HUMQADAM INITIATIVE, the average literacy rate for primary education, known as the Gross Enrolment Rate (GER), is recorded at 72% at the primary level and 42% at the secondary level. These figures indicate the percentage of children enrolled in schools at each level. It highlights the need to focus on improving access to education and increasing enrollment rates, especially at the secondary level, to ensure a higher literacy rate in the district.

Gender in-equality in education and lack of sufficient educational facilities is also a problem in Mardan city and its premises. The need to take adequate measure to rule out illiteracy from populous areas like Mardan is of great importance. The KPK government and BISE Mardan has took many steps to develop education system in the district as well as increase enrollments of students in primary and secondary level.
